Belgian Treats!

| 29th May 2015

A visit to Belgium is worth for the chocolate alone. With over 2000 chocolatiers, Belgium surely knows how to make it and you’d need to spend weeks there to try every single kind. There’s even a 1884 law that regulates the composition of chocolate!

French fries? Definitely not! The Belgian fries are probably the best in the world and you can find many different kids as different parts of the country insist on making them in different and unique ways. You can find fries stands all over major cities and on many sides of roads. Don’t forget that the Belgians eat their fries with… Mayonnaise!

When talking about Belgian food, waffles have to be mentioned! The consistency is a lot more dense than in other parts of the world and they are made with caramelized sugar on top which makes them delicious and unique. Desire de Lille is one of the most famous waffle places.

Belgium also has a traditional cookie called the Phillips Biscuit - a historic Antwerp Hand cookie (“Ant” - giant’s hand that was cut off and thrown “werpen” into a river) in the shape of a hand that supposedly tastes best with a shot of espresso.

And to quench your thirst, Belgium has a lot of beer to offer. With over 180 breweries, you’re bound to find your favourite beer there. The newest trend seems to be the Seef bier created from a 100 year-old recipe in true hipster fashion, the old being remade and restyled.
