Copenhagen

Denmark is the first country in the world to recognize marriage between same-sex couples and since 1999, same-sex married couples could adopt their partner’s children.

Any tourist in Copenhagen (in Danish: København) will experience a relaxed and tolerant atmosphere. The city is believed to be one of the best to live in but unfortunately one of the most expensive as a result to the city’s focus on being ecological and unpolluted. There are many green areas, historic sites and places of interest so your visit to Copenhagen will be full of excitement. There is no specific gay village as gay venues are situated where all of Copenhagen goes to party around Strøget shopping street. Centralhjørnet was the first gay bar, open 80 years ago and you can still pay them a visit. A traditional Danish pub is called "bodegas" and they provide a real authentic Copenhagen experience with cheap beer.

The annual events include the Gay Pride weekend in August. Denmark also hosted the 2nd Gay World Outgames in 2009.

Vesterbro is the infamous red light district of Copenhagen but it is also the city's most hipster area.
