Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is the most populated of the Canary Islands which are in the Atlantic Ocean off the northwestern coast of Africa. Playa del Ingles is where the gay scene is booming in the southern part of the island famous for its Maspalomas dream-like sand dunes.

It's a great destination since the weather is fantastic all year round, however as the island gets crowded with families with children in summer, those who prefer a more party experience should visit from September - November and March - June. You can still go to the beach in winter but it's not your dream holiday. 

The Yumbo shopping centre has a few shops but there are mostly gay venues that get very crowded at night. It might a big attraction but there's much more to explore on the island. 

The nude gay beaches are close to the Maspalomas lighthouse that you can reach by taxi. You'll have to walk for 15-20 minutes but the walk itself is very rewarding and you'll find the beach easily as there is a rainbow flag at the small shop near the water. There is cruising going on in the sand dunes and bushes behind the gay beach but it's AYOR.

Everything on the island is "duty free" so try to avoid doing any shopping at the airport. You'll find the best shopping in Las Palmas which is also where the airport is.
